The post holder will work closely with the Head of EAL and key members of the teaching staff to develop students’ command of English within the school.
English language abilities to support IGCSE (14-16) and potentially A Level (16-18) year old students.
The EAL teacher will be expected to:
Plan and prepare courses, schemes of work and individual lessons appropriate to the needs of the students
Plan work to meet the learning needs of all students using a variety of styles of teaching for learning, and embed differentiation and rigour into each lesson
Ensure planning documentation is available and shared with colleagues
Ensure that every lesson has a clear and effective structure
Use teaching strategies to encourage and develop independent learning
Identify learning objectives and the outcomes/criteria for success for every lesson
Monitor student progress to set expectations and provide constructive feedback
Maintain appropriate standardised records used by the school to demonstrate progress made by students
Maintain confidentiality according to the school’s and legal requirements
Ensure excellent pastoral care
Contribute to the co-curricular programme and whole-school activities in a committed and enthusiastic manner
Work cooperatively and supportively with all members of staff

The successful candidates will have:
BA in Education or a qualified teaching certificate
High level of English (IELTS band 7,5 and higher)
Experience teaching in a Secondary school will be an asset
